| Do you need answers to these questions? - Answers:
[spoiler=How big must the sprites need to be?] A sprite can be any size you want! Keep in mind it needs 4 directions and 3 steps in each one. Also for pixel measurements: RTP uses 32x32 per picture but you can also use 34x34 if you like that...
$ needs to be put in front of the filename if it's a single figure! ! needs to be put in front when it's an item like a door, tiles, ... $ and ! can be used together!
Using RTP standards a spriteset needs to be 32*3*4 wide and 32*4*2 high. A single sprite ($) is 32*3 wide and 32*4 high. This is the same in VX and in ACE
- How big must the tileset need to be?:
A tileset in VX needs to be 512x512 and each tile is 32x32. Though, you can use only tilesets (being Set A to E) which makes you limited as which tiles to use. I usually only add set E and change the others into existing premade sets but if anyone needs more info on them, they can always check out the Help in VX. A tileset for ACE has to be the same size as for VX but I believe you can add multiple and use them all. You can make 5 completely new sets (or more) and set which ones to use where in the database. In mapping, you are still limited to 5 sets per map but you can choose which set tiles you want to use on which map. This is easy for making dungeons with completely different tiles as opposing to the castle.
- How do you post an animated picture?:
I don't know what you mean with this, if you would explain it thoroughly, I might be able to give you an answer.
- What applications you use for spriting?:
Well, most people use Photoshop (no link as you need to buy it) and others use the Character maker from RMVXAce. I use Paint.net which is a free to download program with the basic functions of Photoshop (magic wand, layers, ...). Kind of the same like GIMP but it's a choice you have to make as to which suits you best! Others use MS Paint and there are also lots of spriting programs to be found. Just google around a bit and you might find one you like.
- How to do parallax mapping?:83cd:
You really need to have a tutorial on how to do this. There's a script involved and some graphical skills are needed.
